About is la Heredia
In the early 1800s, an industrialist called Don Manuel Agustin Heredia acquired the land which was a dense forest that now lies between La Heredia and El Madroñal. His family had an ironworks in East Marbella and he had many gypsies working for him. The Spanish government was very against those not christened and without formal family names, so he christened all his workers and gave them the Heredia family name.
In the early 1980s, the descendants played their part in the development of La Heredia by integrating into the development antiques such as original solid wood doors, ironworks, and hand-painted ceramics from throughout Andalucia. The Parade brothers who were the architects behind La Heredia used all these antiques in the design of the development both in the individual houses and the streets and squares he created.
The properties that makeup La Heredia are a true feast on the eyes. There is nothing quite like it in the surrounding area and many people go just to admire the streets and plazas that have been created with vines and wisteria planted between the houses creating a wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere along with stone-cobbled streets. All painted a different color, the houses offer spectacular views across golf courses, mountains, countryside, and the coastline below including the Rock of Gibraltar and even the Rift mountains of Africa which Winton Churchill famously loved to admire. The wonderful thing about La Heredia is no 2 houses are the same. Each house has its own individual styling from wooden vaulted ceilings, special bespoke windows, ceramics, and ironworks the list is endless. When opening the door of a house you never quite know what to expect inside which is the enthralling part about owning a property here. La Heredia boasts 2 communal swimming pools, one of which is heated in the winter months. La Heredia has a local Bar open all year round which is really the heart of the community and a great place to meet neighbors. It is run by a husband and wife team who also live in La Heredia. There is a Dutch baker which is divine and open for breakfast, lunch, and tea. There is also a little mini market incorporated within offering amazing products. There is a fabulous butcher which also serves food and drinks offering a menu of the day most days of the week. A husband and wife team who are totally devoted to La Heredia and hold events and BBQs throughout the year. In addition, there is 24-hour gated security with CCTV throughout the development. Soon a boutique hotel will be opening at the entrance of La Heredia which will be a welcome addition to what is already a fantastic urbanization.
